Oh man, I learned to drive on one of those! Sure, it was mostly VW, but it was a lot more fun than driving a Bug! To be fair, the cutaway drawing you linked to is of a 914/6 which had a flat-six Porsche engine, same as the 911T.

Yeah, the older Spider was definitely better looking. You never know, maybe they'll go back to it in principal if there was enough interest or demand.

"As the US market comes more in to line in terms of product choice with the rest of the developed world, it will become increasingly important for European car makers to get a piece of the american pie. Ford is well placed to do this (as with the US Fiesta launch this week); Fiat is doing it with Chrysler; Renault has hooked up with Nissan, but so far Peugeot/Citroen have no route to the US market. A tie-up with Mitsubishi would give them a credible way in."

thanks for the query....... i actually already had the camera application up and running as i was snapping landscapes whilst scooting along. i saw this car coming and basically just stuck the Iphone up through the roof, stuck it towards the direction of the oncoming car and snapped, hoping for the best.... there was really no 'composition' of the shot, it was sheer luck. sometimes when i am trying to photograph an on-coming car and while i am moving as well there is some severe distortion of the image that turns out kind of cool, you can see there is a little bit of distortion here in this shot. i have some other examples of this brand of distortion that i will display in coming posts...... pretty cool looking. including the corner of my car in the frame was not intentional, in most shots you can see the edges of the car i am in if i wasn't on foot.

so wait a second. you spotted this car in the distance pulled out your phone loaded the camera application composed this shot and snapped it all before the car passed while waiving with the other driver? that's quick on the draw. not to mention you were careful to get the corner of your red spider in the corner of the photo for proof!

thanks boice !

yeah, i'm pretty impressed with the iPhone camera..... mind you these images have not been cropped, photo-shopped, color-corrected or otherwise manipulated in any manner, they are presented just as they were shot straight outta the camera.

the thing i like about this 1949 deluxe fast-back is its not hot-rodded at all.... totally stock and retains that stream-line 40's style.

my friend Denny and his Dad built a 327 chevy motor and put it in a 1950 ford.

it was 60% hot rod. ahhhh. the summer in Indiana. this car has a similar style. but the fastback is beautiful.

what nice photos that iPhone takes.
